A Little Background About
Desert Shores Community Association
Our history . . .
The Desert Shores Community Association (DSCA) is a private homeowners’ association consisting of 3,351 units in a master planned community, located within the city limits of Las Vegas. The Association has been in existence since 1988 as a mutual-benefit, non-profit corporation. This community was developed by RA Homes and has been under total homeowner control since November 1992.

Income is derived from monthly assessments, which are mandatory upon ownership of property within the community. Desert Shores property owners are members of the Desert Shores Community Association. Our annual budget is approximately 2.3 million dollars.

What we have and what the assessments cover . . .
The association encompasses 682 acres and features four man-made lakes stocked with fish, a swimming lagoon, paddle boats and a beach picnic facility with volleyball and basketball courts.  A Reserve Fund is maintained for long-term replacement of the Association’s assets. In addition to administrative, accounting and community services, we offer yearly activities and special events. Being a recreation-oriented community, our beach facility and paddleboats operate six days a week in the spring and summer, including holidays.

What we do . . .
The Desert Shores Community Association is governed by a volunteer homeowner Board of Directors, who are elected by their fellow homeowners. We have a Community Relations Committee made up of homeowner volunteers. The management staff is comprised of paid employees who work on-site at the Association Administration office. The top level employee is the General Manager, followed by the Assistant Manager, Community Relations Coordinator and a support staff including the Accounting, Facilities Coordinator, and Maintenance.

The Association’s operation is similar to that of a property management company. While we do not maintain any of the individual homes, we do maintain all recreational facilities and commonly-owned landscaped areas. We also enforce the rules and regulations know as the Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CC&R’s), publish a newsletter and provide various member services.
